The IMPORTANCE and Benefits of starting a Blog!

Hi,

Here's a brief post showing you what you can do INSTANTLY after you start a blog - that will help a) increase your search engine rankings b) increase your website traffic c) get you more leads and sales.


That is especially true if you already have a website - so you have yourdomain.com and now you'll start a blog on yourdomain.com/blog  

==>Anyone in any niche can start a blog and fill it up with content - because remember you don't have to write articles on your blog - in fact a blog is not for articles mainly but it's a journal where you can post ANYTHING.

Whatever you want to post about; if you like what you're posting about rest assured there are other people that will like it too.

So if you have a website start a blog to enjoy those three benefits.

So here's what you can do (after creating the blog and filling it up with content). Make sure the blog has content - maybe it should have some 10 posts

Submit the Blog Rss Feed to Rss Directories - these are directories like for example: http://www.feedage.com

An RSS directory allows you to submit your blog content (therefore your RSS feed) and it allows visitors to read blogs easy. They also get updated often because RSS feeds gets updated too whenever you post something new. 

Submit your Blog to Blog directories - these are less sophisticated sites - because they simple contain categories and subcategories and blogs. Just like website directories but these contain just blogs. Example: http://www.blogarama.com

Submit your best blog posts to Blog Carnivals - this is very little known - blog carnivals are sites that list the top blog posts. For example this blog: http://www.therealmind.com

If you search the blog you'll find that they are looking for blog posts/articles related to meditation (which is what their blog is about).

There's a directory that lists all of these sites that accept articles/blog posts http://blogcarnival.com/bc

They have a submission form and you can submit your best blog posts to 10 sites or to as many as you wish from their hundreds in no time. It's important that you only submit what you think are your best blog posts.

Once your submissions are accepted they are listed on all the websites you've submitted to. Sometimes they also comment on your blog to let you know they have accepted your submission.

So these are sites that want content - and they will link to it.

Use your website resources - Add an optin form on your blog if you are building a list, promote your products on the sidebar if you have products and/or services. So use your blog as a marketing tool. That's also one BIG reason why it's vital to have a blog. It's a weapon that gets you traffic/leads/sales. And all you have to do is post content on it...

How To Get #1 Ranked Within 8 Hours Or Less In Google Updates

Hi,

It takes like 30 minutes to do and probably very few know about it yet. What is Google Updates first of all?

If you go to Google you'll see the new options they added, there's a link called Show Options and if you click it you see the new options.

Basically this allows searchers to search specific sites like Blogs, Forums and one of them is Updates.


I got ranked #1 for the keyword noadware which gets around 49,500 monthly visitors according to Google's own keyword research tool. Here's a screenshot of the ranking:


The link that I got ranked was not my website, but a brand new Twitter account which had ZERO followers and just two tweets.

So how did I do this? You probably can do this for practically any keyword you wish as long as they are not very competitive - long tail are the best - because if you use common keywords like computer there are many twits that contain that word and Google updates if you go and see will show them all (go to see how).

Long tail are keywords which have 3 or more words.

Create a new Twitter account or use your existing twitter account, and just post a Twit. Then put the keyword you want to rank for in Google Updates as the first word/s of the Twit. Then of course put a link to your website (shorten it or not probably does not matter since links on Twitter have nofollow tags anyway).

That's it.

Google Updates use Twitter as the primary source in fact most often you see twits there - since Twitter is basically Updates!

I don't know how many people actually go to Google Updates when they're searching - but as you can guess some will... The benefit is traffic to your twitter account - and there's the twit listed too which displays the link so you can also get clicks to your website directly from the listing.

How I sovled all his SEO problems with two sentences...

Hello,

The following story will reveal to you one common "mistake".

It's between me and a friend of mine that I've mentored before. Basically he got some great rankings after all that I've taught him.

However he could not get one important fact and stick with it. Basically he knew that backlinks are important to increase your rankings - but he had too many questions about SEO on his mind that it was hard to make the first move.

If I do this what will or might happen? So before doing anything he used to send me an email with a question.

In other words a guy full of questions who needs a lot of answers before he actually starts doing something.

We all where like that at some point, including me.

So I told him TWO sentences that like a miracle answered a ton of his questions - and got him moving...

Get 15-30 link exchanges every day, then get one way links too; some 5 every day from 5 different websites. Do that everyday.

Sounds simple right?

It is, and it's very powerful IF just like it says: You do it everyday!

So it means 15-30 link exchanges every day. Then join 5 forums every day and post one time in each one. To get those 5 one way links you can also do 1 article submission every one or two days to hundreds of article directories - with a software or a service.

But that's the big point.

My final word: Do that ONLY if you have done keyword research. So you use the keywords properly in the anchor text of the backlinks.

Why Ranks Show First In MSN Not Google

The one most asked question about rankings is why ranks are not the same in all search engines. But another frequently asked question is, why I'm first position in Google for cheap dog food keyword for example, but nowhere for my main keyword, dog food which has the same words.

Dealing with second question, you just have to look if you are doing things right. Most often if you get backlinks with anchor text cheap dog food, you will probably but not always rank also good for the dog food keyword.

However, depends, it's not always the case... because both keywords may have huge difference in competition. But if both have approximately same number of competition, you're going to get ranks for both, but still you have to get links with anchor text using both keywords. That's the best way to do it.

So do not get links with anchor text cheap dog food and hope you get ranks too for dog food. No, just use both keywords, and of course you should do that, because in fact you should never use the same keyword in anchor text of links.

But if you really want to nail both keywords use both and create a list of keyword variations for both keywords. Then use the list of keywords in anchor text, not just one or both keywords... the more you make use of the keywords but also of their variations the more natural your linking pattern looks.

It does not look as if you are trying to get ranks for one keyword... it looks as if people are linking to your website because they like it... and if that's the case most often people will not use same keyword, that's the reason and secret why you create keyword variations.

As for the first question, search engine algorithms are not the same. MSN is the weakest that's why you see ranks there fastest, but Google is the strongest, that's why you see ranks there after MSN. By strongest it means that a week of link building may not be enough to get page one ranks... but generally you just need a bit more time for your Google ranks. Give them some more time and obviously keep doing proper seo.

Why Sometimes You Can Rank Well Without Meta Tags?

Simplest answer is because they are not that important. Backlinks are the feul that drives the rocket in the moon.

Sure, it's not just the fuel. Same thing, without meta tags, spiders still show something to the searcher.

Remember meta tags are considered important only because the meta title and meta description is what appears in the search results. The meta title linking to your site, and short snipped of words, the meta description.

But it has nothing or almost nothing to do with rankings. You see, if you don't have meta title tag, spiders will usually put Untitled... and without meta description they grab some content from your website and put it there.

It's not good for the searcher seeing Untitled if he searches for dog food, that's why you need to use meta tags.

But, a page can still rank. Meta tags are more of a quality factor, that's why you should do it on the homepage because most often that's the page you want to get high rankings for. But every other page if possible should have unique meta tags.

Again, no one knows how much if any at all it has effects on your rankings, just that it's so very very little. Probably there are more onpage optimization strategies you should apply, then there is offpage. While offpage is the feul, that's also why an affiliate link ranks well in search engines if it has any feul, offpage optimization.

As an seo you should focus on offpage optimization mainly. But if you have time to do onpage optimization, it's something you should do. It's going to help, little or very little it's still going to help. Remember also there are lots of onpage optimization strategies you can apply, in fact there are more onpage than offpage strategies. So many few things will finally end up getting big and having a big impact.

So that's why websites can rank without having meta tags. Most people think meta tags sort of are the reason or one of the primary reasons why a site gets ranked. That's not true.

What you cannot directly see when you visit a website is driving that website rankings at the top. The amount and quality of the backlinks. There are free tools to find the number of backlinks any site has as well.

One other important thing is to have a bigger site, the bigger it is, the better. Assuming always you put in quality pages of course. It becomes known as an authority site, and pages themselves can get high rankings not just your homepage.

How To Change A Web Page Without Affecting Its Rankings

First of all understand why a page is rankings high. Then we'll see what you should not do to the page so it won't loose rankings. Plus the good things you can do as well, to improve ranks even more.

So you have a page, that you wish to replace, maybe it was an article and now you want it a salesletter or a optin page. The page is highly ranked, because either you have lots of backlinks pointing to that page from external sites, or internal links from your own site itself.

The content on the page may also be good quality for the keyword the page is ranking. But that's not usually the reason why it ranks, even though that is helping.

So here are things you should not do. First and foremost do not change the file name of the page. That means sure drop in ranks, because the page that is highly ranked will return a 404 page not found error.

Modify the meta tags, but if you are not adding completely new content try not to modify them completely. Just make sure they are relevant to the content of the page, yet try to keep the same meta tags as before.

Do not obviously remove the backlinks from external sites pointing to the page. And even internal links, do not remove them or change the anchor text, that can results in drop in ranks - because these links are what is doing the high rankings.

If you are changing the page from a topic to another different topic then it may effect rankings a bit of course. If the page was rankings for dog food and it had dog food article - and now you put a cat vitamins article, probably ranks may get effected here.

So think also of any other options you have, instead of changing the page. Changing the content is not a problem if you are improve in what already exists, or adding some new content on the same page... without removing the current content.

But if it's completely different thing you are adding on the page, your best bet is to find other options. You will find it hard to rank the page for dog food if the page has an article about cat vitamins - but it's still possible and you should not get discouraged about it. It's possible for the fact that backlinks count more than relevant content.

The backlinks you have, probably with anchor text dog food for this example will keep your rankings high. So you can always change the content, then if ranks are not yet the same, replace it and find another option.

How To Rank Flash Websites Well

If your website homepage is totally in flash, it's like there's no content for spiders. They cannot read content in images or flash.

So if you have an intro video before, that visitors have to click skip to go to homepage - that's not going to help rankings.

Your option to use to get rankings for long tail keywords (because high competitive you probably need content - it will be difficult without)... is to obviously make use of one way links or link exchanges, in other words do the offpage optimization strategies.

You can of course get it ranked, but have that slight disadvantage of no content on your homepage. Assuming your other pages are not completely flash than you can still add content to your website.

But for competing for very competitive keywords, you need content on homepage and everywhere.

For other keywords though, so called long tail, keywords with multiple words and low competition, like 2 million or less, you can get it ranked just the same.

Offpage factors are more important, that's the reason why you can still get it ranked. The backlink number, quality and other factors are considered more important than content on homepage.

So, you should start by optimizing for those long tail keywords, first and foremost. Obviously whenever you can make that flash site at least half flash half content better for search engines. But just make sure you use meta tags, and internal linking and site structuring just the same, plus the other onpage optimization strategies.

Your only disadvantage is no content. Think of it as an advantage, you can spend more time on link building. No content to worry about. A forum is just as well content, actually one of the best ways to generate content. It's free content and people submit the content for you.

Article directory on your website is also good, but you give away lots of pagerank and site authority. In articles people will link to their site, even though you gets lots of content (but most duplicate of content elsewhere) you have lots of external links. That's why article directory is not my favorite for content.

A forum however, you can make use of nofollow on signature links. Most will not join for the backlink obviously.

So having a flash site, or some other similar problem, like trying to rank an affiliate link... you should go for low competitive keywords. If it works well for you, go ahead and optimize for higher competitive keywords.

Why Top Ranked Sites May Have Few Backlinks

There are many reasons which I shall identify.

One is that, the particular keyword may seem competitive for you, but it's not, so few backlinks are going to make the "trick". You just found a gem maybe.

Did you make the search with quotes? You will not see the top competitors when using quotes with your keyword. Visitors nowadays do not use quotes to search. When entering keyword in search box to see the competitors do not use quotes.

The other answer may be that you used an outdated tool to check for backlink count for your competitors. Google does not show all backlinks - so you should use Yahoo Site Explorer. Google hides most of the backlinks in the supplemental index.

I guess Google will do something specifically for Webmasters in their Google Webmaster Tools to check backlink count for any website.

Their search engine, doing a link:domain search will return backlinks for that particular website, but it's intended for research purposes. Not for webmasters to know the actual number.

Just enter the domain name in Yahoo Site Explorer and click Search site. It will tell you how many indexed pages, plus how many and which sites are linking to it. The pages and inlinks. You can also see backlinks for a specific webpage, or just the homepage of the website.

It's really a research tool, you can dig deeper and check out the backlink count and indexed pages for the backlinks as well. You can also see the cached copy of each website.

It will absolutely give you a great idea on how well optimized your competitors are in terms of offpage factors.

When I do keyword research I don't look at how many backlinks the top competitors have. I check the competition number, and the sites themselves. If they are wikipedia, yahoo answers, or some big site, you instantly know it's not the easiest keyword.

But the backlinks count, if you have good tools you can outrank any website. The giant ones are the ones with so many backlinks, especially one way links that it will not be an easy one.

But the other common ones, I never seen one with an exaggerated number of links. Giant sites get links for free, automatically everyday from people who just talk about them on their websites, forums, blogs, everywhere.

That's why they are top ones. They get one way links without lifting a finger. Yet still, you can outrank them for certain keywords of course, since not all backlinks they get will be optimized with anchor text. They may be unbeatable for certain keyword but rank good or average for others.

Take for example lavasoft the free anti spyware software. It may be unbeatable to outrank for free spyware software, because most of the backlinks they get have those three words.

But for remove adware and spyware, remove spyware, spyware eraser, even though they may be first page, it is not difficult to outrank them as it may sound.

How To Avoid The Google Sandbox?

Well first of all remember that Google Sandbox is a term or a description. It's not a location or a place!

When your website is no longer useful according to Google, your rankings won't increase! When that happen, some refer to it as being Sandboxed.

You sort of get stuck and it seems stuck for life.

So how to get out?

Well, answer is super easy, if you have been reading what Google wants. That's quality websites. So is your website quality? Do you know what quality means?

Quality means it's good value, useful for your visitor, not for you.

A person landing on your website looking for dog food after searching dog food on Google - will your website satisfy him in every form and shape?

These are questions you need to answer.

By adding articles, unique and relevant to what the searcher wants.

By maybe using a blog, a very common way nowadays to add content and provide useful tips, updates, news, anything useful and valuable for your visitor.

Quality here also means avoiding things that annoys visitor, like tons of popups, duplicate content like same articles he already read somewhere else.

A forum is something your visitor may find useful. Depends but forums are general very common, everyone likes to chat with other like minded people.

So is there a secret to get out of the Sandbox? No.

You will feel better, you get high rankings, you get more referrals, you get more business, better conversion and the list of positive things that can happen by having a quality site is endless.

Other things to consider for a quality site is updating it regularly with new, fresh and unique content. Plus make use of proper meta title and description because these will be read by searcher. They are very important. That's first thing he will see before your website.

If he cannot figure out or gets confused before he has not yet visited your website, he is already bored. 


Our lives are boring by default, so try not to make them more. These things work and help. Make use of them.

It's impossible that if you follow these guidelines your website remains in the sandbox. One thing you should not do is get obsessed as to whether you are still in sandbox or not.

If your get obsessed with having a quality website you will see amazing results.

The articles you put on your website or blog can be submitted to article directories as well. A forum once it has lots of members will generate lots of new pages on your site. The bigger your website, the more pages you have the better chances are people will find one of these pages in the search engines.

In fact one of the keys to get traffic from search engines is to have a big site.

Iternal Pages Not Being Indexed Or Cached?

So what's cached?

If you visit google.com and find your website, you can click on cached link. That will open new window and at the top it will tell you last time spiders actually visited that page.

If they visited the page like a year ago - something is not very well with that page. They should come often, like every 1-2 weeks.

So how to index first of all internal pages and then get spiders to crawl theM regularly?

First of all any page you have on your website should be linked at least one time from some other page.

The content of the page - if it's a duplicate content of something already on your website or external website - make content unique and relevant to your site.

Meta tags, make them unique - unique meta title and description at least, descriptive to the page.

Create xml sitemap and submit it to Google. Create website sitemap and list all pages neatly and organized.

Remember here you are not trying to trick search engines, whatever you do you must input quality factors, your visitors in mind.

Those are the most common things why your pages are not indexed.

Let spiders move from page to page easily so they find all your pages. A website sitemap helps a lot.

You can also get backlinks to the pages that are not indexed. Probably the best way from articles so link to inner pages as well in bio section, sometimes.

Indexing internal pages is a matter of allowing spiders to reach them, showing spiders the content is worth indexing and valuable for users and telling spiders that other people or websites like the content (they are linking to it) by getting backlinks.

Adding fresh content on your website is the reason why your website cached copy is fresh. If it's old, like a year ago that spiders last visited your website you have to add more fresh content.

Nothing special here, no hidden secrets, if your website is not having quality for your visitor why do spiders have to index or visit it regularly anyway?

Spiders come to see if you have anything new on your site.

Pinging blog is a way to call them if you add something new on your blog... always ping if you add new posts something spiders will see. Don't call them if you just added a new picture.

I ping after posting always. There are many free pinging tools to use.

All blogs have an rss or atom feed too, which you can add to the pinging too. I also ping my content not just the blog. If I add really useful content that I think spiders should see quickly, I ping the page as well. Not just the blog.

That helps generate spider activity!

How To Get A Landing Page Highly Ranked

That's a good question... that deserves a good answer. :)

Some folks think that only content sites get high ranked - but you can get your affiliate link highly ranked. A page that you cannot edit at all.

Why it get ranks? You get backlinks!

Even though for certain very high competitive keywords you need content - therefore the affiliate link will be difficult to rank for high competitive keywords - but it still can rank for other keywords.

Someone who can add content has an advantage - but your goal if you have a landing page - is to add more pages - you can still add content by starting a blog, creating an articles page full of articles...

Then link to these pages from the bottom menu of your landing page, so spiders crawl them. Put a sitemap on your website and put a link to them.

So a landing page the only difference is that you don't have too many content on the page.

You can still add content on your website.

So landing page, one page salesletter or even an affiliate link can still get high rankings. The landing page or one page salesletter even for high competitive keywords. The affiliate link though your best bet will be on low competitive keywords.

An affilaite link you cannot even add content by creating a blog - that's why sometimes if you are an affilaite it's better to create your own website and sell from your own site...

Rarely do you find affiliates trying to get highly ranked their affiliate link. I am not in any way an affiliate marketing expert, but for search engine optimization purposes your best bet is to sell as an affiliate from your own website or blog.

Things like keyword density, h1 tags, keyword prominence or the one I hate most, seo copywriting should be things you avoid. With seo copywriting you'll have tons of keywords but you have a website that does not convert traffic into prospects, customers or leads...

No need to waste time on these things, which like keyword density no longer effect your rankings. Focus on quality content, copy that coverts traffic into sales. Have a jam packed content rich website as much as possible - plus stay on topic. If you sell dog food, first and foremost have a dog food "authority" site.

Only then you may expand to other subniches and talk about them, like pets maybe...

But stay relevant to your main topic. Doing so when you write content you automatically write it "perfect" instead of "robot written" with tons of keywords and so forth.

It is a much better approach. So things to avoid are seo copywriting, keyword density and keyword prominence which is like keyword density more or less.

How To Get A New Site Indexed Quickly?

I indexed 150 websites in a week - brand new websites! This was a scriptlance.com project - the sites were not mine.

Years ago all I did online was work as a freelancer.

150 websites in a week! So one website should be far easier to get indexed. Right?

So what I did?

First and foremost the concept was to get spiders to visit these 150 websites as quickly as possible AND several times a day!

To get spiders visit the sites very fast - you can simple use Content Crooner service and submit one article a day - they submit your website to thousands of directories. That's why spiders find your new site quickly.

Put your link in the bio of the article. Use anchor text.

Second submit your website to high pagerank websites - like Digg.com I've placed a list of these top sites in my other blog post... High Pagerank One Way Links For You!

Do article marketing submission daily... and within 5 days your new site is indexed. Yes, that alone is enough.

The high pagerank websites sort of give your website a boost... doing them is like a bonus.

Pretty easy.

*Use original article for submission - that way all article directories accept it - plus other webmasters who like it places them on their website (bonus).

*One submission everyday, just fill the form one time everyday with article title, description, etc. Brain-dead easy.

I would do that alone if it's just ONE website you have... and after 5 days use the list of high pagerank websites - and submit the site there as well. That guarantees solid inclusion in Google and other search engine index.

So it's all offpage - no really need to do anything in particular on your website. Spiders will find your website from article directories - and since you have a lot of backlinks they find your website often and quickly... that's why they index it.

Test it out!

How To Index 4000 Pages Of Your Website?

This is common question.

First of all, Google looks for quality. It's hard for Google to index duplicate pages, so if you have identical pages get rid of them, or make them unique.

Ask yourself the question, do I have enough value on each of these pages? It will be hard to index pages with low value, with no unique content...

But assuming that is fixed - (having unique meta tags is recommended if you have a webmaster that can do it for you...) your next step is to create a Google Webmaster Account, for free. Plus create a sitemap.xml using one of the free software like Gsitecrawler.com

Then upload sitemap.xml file to your Google Webmaster Account. It helps Google find all your 4000 pages fast.

Having a web based sitemap is also a good idea... but create it in a good manner that if a visitor lands on your page won't scream:

MAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Do not for example put 4000 links one under the other. Put some sort of categories, subcategories - properly organized.

Truly, those changes will effect how the pages get indexed.

Make sure that each page of the 4000 pages (or more depending how many you have) is linking from somewhere. If you create a sitemap all pages will have one link from the sitemap.

But you can for example link one page to another that have similar content. For example there is a page about dog vitamins and another page about dog food. On the dog food page you can put text link:

Learn more about Dog Vitamins.

Link it to the dog vitamins page.

But only do this linking if it will provide the visitor value. If it truly is related page worth looking at.

Your visitors comes first, trying to cheat search engines will results in penalties and negative results! Google is highly advanced and getting more so.

Even if you have an article that talks about dog vets. Inside the article link to some other page related in some way or another. Maybe you have a page about dog health.

Why you do this?

So that spiders find all your 4000 pages by moving from page to page. The sitemap on your website helps find all your pages, the Google Webmaster Tools's sitemap.xml does same thing.

You want spiders to find your 4000 pages for them to get indexed. Get rid of any unwanted external links these pages may have - and make use of one common menu for all pages. Your website pages should be organized neatly.

>> Pages about dog food health should be organized in the folder called dog-food-health

>> Pages about dog vitamins should be placed in the folder called dog-vitamins

You are making your website valuable for your visitors - that's the aim of these techniques, that's what search engines want. Give them that and they index your pages - otherwise they do not need another bunch of 4000 pages.

Things to focus upon:

There is something else you can do that is article submission. Submit articles and in bio link to the sitemap and to other pages of your website. This helps spiders find your website pages easier as well.

Article submission is the number one method to get them indexed. They will flood your website with backlinks and that's what spiders want to index pages - if a page has a lot of backlinks pointing to it, then it's worth indexing.

Rank 3 in MSN, 7 in Yahoo. NOT In Top 1000 in Google

Why? Because Google takes the longest time to rank websites. Google algorithms take in consideration time as one of the factors. For example the age of your website, how old are your backlinks, how old is the site you got the backlink from - all are a part of the algorithm.

It simple will take longer to rank on Google or I should say - you will see rankings faster in MSN and in Yahoo.

It really boils down to that!

It's not a penalty... it's not something you are not doing right... but is there something you can do to speed rankings in Google?

YES! It's mainly getting backlinks from high pagerank directories, the ones also considered as authority directories - AND do it as soon as possible.

Again it's optional, you can do it at a later time since these are not all free directories.

These are amongst the TOP 20 Directories.

Yahoo directory at dir.yahoo.com The most expensive. You will see a boost in your Yahoo rankings once you get listed.

Before submitting make sure your website is in good shape or it will be waste of money. Most will refund you if your website is not approved, but check their submission form instructions first. Some also have a yearly fee not a one time fee.

These all manually check your website, to see the quality. So fix your website from any 404 page not found errors, add content related to your niche like some articles, or start a blog.

Do that first before submitting your website. Things like website structuring is also considered - to see how easy it is to navigate through your website pages. Think yourself as a visitor! Can you reach all important pages of your website easily? Are there any frustrating popups?

Quality is very important even for your rankings.

Your Mom Taught You An SEO Lesson!

Hi,

It's true - a VERY important lesson. Basically it's this:
Always push, try harder to persuade... (without using force). Do not give up!

When you where a kid and wanted your mother to buy you something you loved - you try hard to persuade her. You did not give up too easy. That's why you got what you wanted, especially if you started to cry.

So this is a good lesson in seo as well:

Tell search engines (by the action you take) that your website MERITS the #1 position. Not forcing them to put you there. But you need to do your best to get what you deserve.

Things you can do and keep doing are all the good seo techniques. I can sum them up a bit here:

1) Keep adding fresh new content on your site (especially related to your niche).

2) Keep getting one way links, get also link exchanges - quality and quantity are both important.

3) Use keyword variations and related keywords in anchor texts of links, so your linking looks natural (not as if you are spamming the keyword).

Again those I personally say are the THREE most important "tactics" in seo.

If you read my other posts I told you how rankings sort of play around in the search engines. Your mother used to agree to give you what you want today, but change her mind tomorrow - until you REALLY PERSUADE her!

That's same thing with the search engines. Persuade them NOW that your website is the best one for the searchers - for the particular keywords they are searching.

After all you need to deserve the high rankings and the seo techniques actually do the good job of showing that your website is the best one and deserves the #1 rankings.

The backlinks you get mean your website is useful because people link to it.

The content obviously means you know your topic or you provide great content that searchers are going to love. Adding fresh content everyday means you are not just looking to make money from your website - but it's actually a great resource for the searchers. It is useful!

Again about backlinks, if you get some everyday means that everyday your website is being linked to from other websites - it's not a one time thing you are doing to spam... (like getting 100 on Monday to improve rankings - then nothing for rest of the week).

I always preach that 15-30 link exchanges every day combined with one way links is the best approach for link building.

So all these mean you are doing search engine optimization but not forcing or trying to use spam to get high rankings!

Follow this best advice and you will get the reward you merit!

Why Your Website Lost Rankings?

Hi,

Here is a quick free tool to use and check for your website rankings for particular keywords: http://www.searchenginegenie.com/google-rank-checker.html I won't suggest you check your rankings daily, or too often...

...just so you stay motivated.

Sometimes search engines, especially Google puts your website temporary out of the index entirely, or you will see a big drop in rankings... they put you on the last pages.

This may happen while you are on page 4,5,6,7, not while you are #1... I mean while you are optimizing your website (you are not yet #1)!

This thing they do occurs to websites when search engines are STILL evaluating them. They sort of put it "on hold" to see and then analyze it carefully to determine if the site merits a boost in rankings.

So they have many things to analyze websites. That's one of them.

The time you spend out of index, or temporary on the last pages depends on several factors. Like the number of competitors you have.

This may also be referred to the so called sandboxed theory.

A quick example of this:

Say for example you have a library full of books. You are researching for the 10 best books about ufology (a topic I like by the way).

You have hundreds or thousands maybe of books in your library.

You start sorting them, checking and analyzing the contents, the chapters to start your research for those top 10 books.

What you may do (or what can happen) is that you find some books which you think are good but just not sure. So you set them aside, you place them "on hold" so you check them later.

So there are two ways you follow in your research:

#1:Some books you throw away, they are not good at all.

#2:Others you set aside because you are not sure if they are good or not yet.

Now search engines sometimes treat your website like way #2. They set it aside until they are sure it is worth the top rankings. If they use way #1 on your website - means they throw it away, not useful at all... then you need to improve your website.

Hopefully this example shows you (and you understand) that even though when you are optimizing your website it may temporary "vanish" from the index... it does not mean banned, or penalized ALL the time!

Keep doing seo techniques that work, keep motivated... and do not make SEO a god or godess of your life.

Do other things you love as well - after all seo is just one part of your business - a source of generating traffic! It's probably NOT your entire business!

How A Site Climbs The Search Engine Ladder

Hi,

From my experience (since no one knows what search engine algorithms are) here is a "ranking pattern" I have seen. This happened not once but on more than one website.

By the way: Algorithms are techniques that search engine spiders use to determine which sites rank Number 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, etc. They keep most of these techniques secret.

This thing can happen to you too, and here I am going to help you UNDERSTAND what is happening - so you will remain RELAXED and CALM when it happens to you.

By ranking pattern I mean the way you will see your website rank from nowhere to page 10 up till the number one position.

If you do seo the right way more or less you will see a "pattern" like this:

A brand new site first gets indexed.

Then it goes to page 70 or 60. (After few days and remains there for some time too) It plays around on those two pages, sometimes on page 60 and then on page 70, back to page 60.

Then it goes to page 6-7 instantly. (A big leap from page 60 to page 6 but after some time too - it remains there for a while too) It plays around on those two pages, sometimes on page 6 and then on page 7, back to page 6.

Then it goes to page 3-4 (Sometimes on page 3, then drops to page 4 and back to page 3 - plays around on those two pages for some time, but mostly on page 4)

Then for a day or two the site is nowhere. (WOW). This is when Google is evaluating (analyzing) your website to see if it really merits another PUSH UPWARDS in rankings.

AND all the while during this process if you been doing seo the right way, then YES, you will jump up again.

So after my site is nowhere, then suddenly (sometimes it happened after 1-2 days only) site is page 2.

Then from page 2 to page 1, and plays a bit on those two pages. Sometimes on page 2 and then back to page 1. Then starts pushing forward on page 1 up till the Number One position.

BUT this patter you will not see it if you do not do SEO the right way. In my opinion if you keep getting backlinks regularly and steadily, some 15-30 everyday you will see more or less that pattern.

If you are new to SEO, you may loose motivation or simple worry if you see your rankings not constantly improving.

This blog post should REALLY make you understand something you cannot without EXPERIENCE.

If your site is page 5 and you check tomorrow and it is page 6, it's something in the "pattern" I talked above. It is normal.

You will move further up but ONLY if you keep doing SEO and NOT start worrying or go to forums and waste time deliberating (arguing), etc on this thing.

Keep it up... discover more of how to do SEO the right way. That should be your goal, because if you do it the right way... you do not have to worry about anything.

As you can see from the pattern I created above, it even disappeared completely for a day or two. Did I worry? No, no. I just checked if I am still doing things right - and then just kept doing them.

I know that at that time it is simple a matter of time!

In fact Google does sometimes remove websites from the search results - just for the purpose of checking them (their, backlinks, site age, etc)

The exact way they check is secret to them.

How To Get Rankings For Multiple Keywords At Once

The first site I did search engine optimization on was www.deletespyware-adware.com What I am going to say is important and should motivate you more.

I optimized my site for two keywords at that time. These two:
remove adware and spyware
spyware cleaner

However my site ranks on first page not only for those two keywords but also at:

Position 1

spyware cleaner - computer adware spyware - best adware cleaner - remove spyware now - internet removal adware

Position 2 - 9

adware remover - best spyware removal - best spyware program - adware software - spyware and adware software - best spyware scanner - top spyware software - adware cleaner - remove adware and spyware - anti adware - remove computer adware - noadware - delete spyware - windows spyware removal - computer adware remover - spyware scanner - free no adware - best spyware software - remove adware - adware spyware scanner software - best spyware

So as you can see, I got tons more traffic than I hoped for, because not just two keywords got on first page, but a ton!

This is an advantage of course. The thing is that when you optimize your site for a keyword, by default you are optimizing for multiple keywords.

Like I said one of the keywords I optimized my site for was:
remove adware and spyware

So at the same time it is easier to get ranked for:
remove adware
remove spyware

Why?

In Optimization most important thing is the anchor texts you use when getting backlinks. If you get backlinks with anchor text remove adware and spyware you will rank high for that keyword. So as you can see, you are also getting backlinks with anchor text remove adware at the same time.

Side note: What is anchor text?

Quite simple. In the following text link the anchor text is seo blog: seo blog

So anchor text it the text in blue color that links to the url.

So, optimization is going to help you get lots of traffic. I bet even before you hit the first page for the keyword you are optimizing your site for... you will see increase in traffic, maybe sales too.

You do not need to do any tricks for this - you automatically get ranked for multiple keywords!

Let me give you another example to show you better what I mean.

Say you are optimizing your website for the keyword:
cheap antivirus software

Without you knowing, your site not only will start to get highly ranked for that keyword - but also for other similar keywords... like antivirus software!

So keep optimizing your website once you do keyword research, once you know which keywords you are going to optimize your site for. You will start seeing increase in traffic and even make sales sooner than you think of - before hitting first page for the keyword.

Afraid Of Google Penalty?

Here's a question from Terry. Now my reply to Terry, will RELAX you and HELP you continue doing SEO the right way without any fear of problems...

Question from Terry:

I am thinking about buying your software mainly for the one way links but I was wondering how many links can you safely get a day with this software without getting pennalyzed from google.

Terry"


My Answer:

It does not matter how many links a day you get. What matters is that you keep getting the same number of links everyday or almost everyday. Go for 15-30 one way links a day that is realistic and very achievable. Obviously if you can get more it is better.

However relax about this, Google will only penalize you in extreme cases like if you get 1000 links today and nothing for rest of the week... then again 1000 links in a day (or in an hour) and nothing for another week.

So you should just try to get as many links as you can a day, get some everyday. The more you get the better. And remove that fear just keep getting links constantly, some every day without doing things that really look suspicious like the above mentioned example.

To mention also is that when rankings drop or play around like for example from position 10 to position 20 back and forth that does not always mean penalized.

>> Banned is when they remove your site from the index. Means you won't find it in any page of their search results. Only those who try to cheat in some very sneaky ways risk that a lot.

>> A penalty is when they do something because they see something suspicious. They can do many things like drop a bit your rankings (the most common thing) but you can always get back on track.

So how quickly can I expect from these links for my site to start moving up in the Search Engine Rankings?

Karl Sultana: That depends on how competition there is for your keywords. But generally, your goal is to get as many links as possible. For improvement in rankings get some links everyday 15-30 backlinks, and you see improvement for sure.

Get links by most common methods:

Link exchanges
Directory submission (do it once)
Article submission


Those three alone will improve your rankings. The more backlinks you get the better. The one way links you got from the blogs helps a ton more to get rankings faster... I never check out my rankings after getting a bunch of one way links. What I do is keep getting backlinks day in day out...

Think of backlinks and rankings like a prescription medicine. You need to take all the prescription to see results. So you need to get many backlinks to improve rankings, and it is impossible to calculate the amount you need.

This is not very important. It's just some technical detail: You still can see a little or a lot improvement in rankings after getting powerful one way links. The time it takes depends how fast search engines count the backlinks. That again depends on other factors such as how good the sites you got links from are. Their pagerank gives you indication how good they are.

BUT to keep it short and to the point, like I said get some backlinks every day. That should be your ultimate goal!

Patience is a virtue

I am very interested, very into the topic of UFO's which has nothing to do with SEO. Unidentified Flying Objects, you heard of them before.

But I bought this book and more or less it has to do with UFO's, even though it's not some ufo story. And if you are thinking what the hell I am doing, let me tell you it's not a book filled with tons of fake ufo photos :)

You need to be obsessed like me to really understand why I go a step further from what most people do - and spend money on that subject.

But I also am very patient. In fact I have to wait like 2-4 weeks or more to get this book.

Why this story has everything to do with SEO?

You see, you need patience too, rankings will not happen overnight... but if you want it bad enough THEN nothing really can stop you from getting it.

You can say the hidden "secret" with seo is to enjoy what you are doing... do not get obsessed with it or you can get frustrated if you don't see results instantly.

KNOW deep down that you are going to get tremendous benefits when you get top rankings.

The primary benefit is website traffic, in other words customers who are going to pull out their wallets and pay YOU money.

The second benefit is low maintenance. You just have to get some backlinks from time to time to maintain your position. For example instead of making 15 link exchanges a day, you make 15 a week only.

Third benefit is popularity... many webmasters will start to email you more frequently and ask you for a link exchange.

Fourth benefit is multiple rankings. When you optimize your website for a particular keyword, usually you will get several keywords ranked at the same time.

When I optimized one of my sites for the keyword noadware spyware cleaner, I got number one position for spyware cleaner and number two position for noadware.

So patience is a virtue my friend.

Here is some of the work spiders do on the world wide web. First of all spiders are software, and each search engine has its own spider.

These software called spiders determine where a website rank for particular keywords. They are the thing that indexes your website in the search engines.

The main role of these software is to crawl webpages, to provide the search engine customers, with the best possible results. The customers are the users that use the search engines.

These software are installed with special features, with their main role to find certain elements inside a website. These elements may include meta tags, number of backlinks, how old a wbesite is, the keyword density and a lot of other in depth details. Some of these are not revealed to search engine optimizers or anyone else. The search engine programmers keep this secret.

These factors are created just as a way for these software to find the best websites. Since there are millions of websites, these spiders goal is to present the results for a particular keyword, starting from the best all the way down to one thousand results. Everyone wanted their website indexed, so to stop all those emails from every website, they created the submission form.

They will not review each website one by one, that is for sure. Spiders does the indexing automatically.

What about the factors that improve your search engine rankings.

That is a big question to answer, because the factors are vast. However the obvious factor is the number of backlinks you have. Then there are many other factors like the type of backlinks, the quality, the pagerank of the website your link is on and the list is very long.

However, the good news is that you do not want to know all that stuff, even though it helps. As a search engine optimizer, you need to get backlinks. It does not matter what type, just the more you get the better.

Hopefully now you know that behind the search engines, there is not god preferring a website instead of the other because the owner is a relative. You need to make friends with the software called spiders.

I live on a small island, Malta in the Mediterranean sea. You can count the people doing Internet marketing on your fingers.

But I have many contacts on messenger, and constantly receive questions about this and that... I love to answer them!

You need to discover what's the problem.

Now asking questions is one of the ways to do that. However taking action is the next step. You need to learn SEO, to understand what the hell are backlinks.

SEO is the car. Backlinks are the fuel, water, engine,wheels... You need backlinks to get visitors to your website... but you need to know what SEO is all about as well.

You cannot drive a car if you have fuel, water.. but you don't know how the car works.

MYTH #2

"You need to wait 6 to 8 months to see some results, and then again you have to adjust to Google algorithms"

Now that's really newbiesh. And it's not true. Someone who is dead bored not only with his website, but with his life too spits something like that... and who tells you that has nothing to proof. I mean come on..

I tell you, you waste time on forums that keep on spraying such statements.

Many, and I mean many internet marketers rely on search engines as their primary and most often only source of traffic. You may need 2 months to start getting hundreds of visitors, not more than that. You don't need a 1,3,4 or 5 year diplomas to become really good in SEO.

MYTH #3


"Link exchanges are dead"

Oh, come on. Again!

I got my first couple keywords ranked on top in Google, doing only link exhcanges and some article submission. Most people talk not from results, but what they heard from their friends or what the guru told them... who doesn't know otherwise.

Methods To Outrank Your Competitors

A year ago I was as usual doing business online. In my life so far I had three girlfriends. You know, some experience helps you to get better... and better. And I was doing very well with SEO. In fact my website was on page one of Google for dozens upon dozens of keywords...

I was getting a lot more traffic than the previous year. I mean A LOT MORE.

The SEO 'game' was well known to me. Just like the dating "game" is. :)

I went on as usual creating some articles and submitting them, getting some backlinks. You know SEO stuff...

It was wonderful; my site was on top of the Google search results for so many keywords that some webmasters were asking me how did you do that.

Anyway, many interesting things happened and still happen after I became a bit popular with the search engines.

But as usual a new theory took the net by storm. The Doublicate Content Theory. According to that theory I had to change the way I create articles and webpages, where I submit articles and more "technical junk".

So I wanted to test this darn thing out.

Now, I don't even like computers. In fact, I hate staying on my computer for long hours. BUT... I had to spend like 2-3 months testing, only to find that these theories that people come up with are almost all lousy.

But guess what? I had no choice. I was doing business very well until I read about this Doublicate Content Theory. So by force I had to test and see if it's only theory.

For you here are some of my results. I created several subdomains all with the exact same content like the homepage of my website. Guess what? No rankings dropped, nothing banned...

Remember, you can submit as many articles as you want to as many article directories as you want. It does not matter if all articles are exactly identical. Google looks at the number of backlinks you have (and the quality) not the way you write your articles.

And how do you outrank your competitors? It's actually an easy answer if you know how to get unlimited number of backlinks; working smart not hard.

Why My Friends Rankings Suck?

I was talking with one of my friends, and found this
very interesting.


We were talking about how he thinks too much and
tries to read too much before taking any action.

Search Engines Are Dumb

Let me share with you a quick story.

I was on Messenger, chatting with a girl. Basically I met this girl online. You know from one of those social network sites like myspace.

Anyway, this girl was from the same island I live in, Malta.

Somewhere in the middle of our conversation she asked me for my digits. This is how the chat continued...

She: May I know your digits please??
Me: Sure 79308643
Me: seven, nine, three, zero, eight, six, four, three
She: lol
Me: So you can verify :)

That was a bit funny.

Now what the hcck has this to do with SEO?

I wanted to make this point:

Search Engines unlike humans do not argue with you. They do not think. If they see you stopped getting backlinks for a long period of time, they just think your website is not useful anymore. Even though you might have the greatest salesletter and the best customer support. Search Engines don't give a damn about all that - simply because they do not argue with you.

If you had to tell that joke to search engines they think you are an idiot.

But the girl, who understood my joke certainly did not think I am an idiot.

So even if you spent $15,000 to create your website do not expect search engines to index it, to rank it because like I said they are not humans but robots... they could not give a ___ about the price you paid.

Give them what they want. If you been around with me for some time you know the answer!

Sudden Drop In Rankings!

It's the first SEO question I am going to answer. Here is the complete question I received:

was in position 16 for the term cat allergy, then it went to page 14 (!!) (but that was due to incorrect info was uploaded onto site for about 24 hours before it was corrected)

Next I was back on page 2 for some weeks and now I'm on page 5 again.

First of all let me state that there are several reason why a site rankings drop so fast. I took a look at your site and I see you have very few backlinks. There are some 10-20 backlinks on your linkspage. That seems to be the solution so I am going to talk about what you are not doing right...

Now if your competitors are getting more backlinks then you are, they outrank you and your rankings drop. It's better to explain to you what you need to do then some technical stuff. The statement you mentioned is probably incorrect: "(but that was due to incorrect info was uploaded onto site for about 24 hours before it was corrected)"

Rankings won't drop because you have some incorrect information.

First you need to start getting backlinks - everyday get around 15-30 and do it everyday... You can get more than that but the important thing is you get same number of links everyday. A 100 everyday will be difficult while 15-30 is realistic.

The concept behind it:

Getting backlinks regularly like that means something important to the search engines. It means your website is very good, since everyday people are linking to it. That is what search engines think when they see new backlinks everyday.

So it's easy... 15-30 is not that big and with a software like OutRankSmart you can get 50, 100 or more daily.

In simple terms linking to another website is like giving them some of your pagerank - they get rewarded and you do not want to reward your competitors... makes sense!

You link to other websites on your links page - and if they do not link back you can and should remove their link from your website. That also makes a difference in your rankings.

Other Recommendations:

These are not the problem of your rankings that drop. But you can fix these.

Google does not index links that are in images, like your top menu:
Home | Testimonials | FAQ's......

Make those text links so they can be spidered and indexed.

When I do SEO, I do not focus on one keyword. I find some 3 - 4 and focus on getting backlinks, changing the anchor text in the backlinks using all 3 - 4 keywords... so it's like optimizing homepage for 3 - 4 keywords... A great start to get some traffic and money. Then you can optimize some other page for some other keywords, or the same page for new keywords... you also become good at SEO... you get some experience.

You have some 15 keywords in meta keywords... focus on 3 - 4 and put those in meta keywords - then create meta title and description using those keywords... Make sure your other site pages have different meta tags, not identical.

I see rest of your site looks good.
