Black hat and white hat software are both search engine optimization software. The black hat software have a bad reputation, in a sense that their aim is to cheat the search engines. Now there are white hat and black hat social bookmarking software. The white hat type allows you to easily post your website to a ton of social bookmarking websites, which is great. But the black hat software allows you to create a ton of fake accounts in these sites to get a ton more links.

That is where the bad thing happens. Social bookmarking websites adopted to spamming, so almost all of them are using the nofollow tag. It means even the white hat are no longer useful anymore.

There are many more black hat software, like some who create so called doorway pages. The idea behind these software is always the same. To get higher rankings easily, to get backlinks fast, to get indexed fast and so on. Some are specifically created to get backlinks, to get spiders to visit your website quickly. Once again if search engines notice it, your website can easily get banned. That cannot be reversed.

Using black hat software is like putting your business at risk all the time. You never know when you may get a bit un lucky and get banned. If you are serious, avoiding black hat software is the road you should follow. Remember that traffic from SEO is just one part of your business. Plus you should not rely on SEO only for traffic. Many things can go wrong for you with black hat software.
