I live on a small island, Malta in the Mediterranean sea. You can count the people doing Internet marketing on your fingers.
But I have many contacts on messenger, and constantly receive questions about this and that… I love to answer them!
Now, here is an interesting question I received from Albert. He had just got his hands on my new software, OutRankSmart.
Very short – but short does not mean a short answer. My mum always tell me: “I’m short but it doesn’t mean squat” She’s old, 64 but anyways… I like to tease her…

Thank You very much Karl for your software! But how can I use backlinks to drive traffic to my website? Will SEO work?

Here is my reply to Albert:
Picture this in your mind: Your car is empty from fuel. It does not work. You can blame anyone because your car is not working – if you don’t know your fuel is empty.
You need to discover what’s the problem.
Now asking questions is one of the ways to do that. However taking action is the next step. You need to learn SEO, to understand what the hell are backlinks.
SEO is the car. Backlinks are the fuel, water, engine, wheels… You need backlinks to get visitors to your website… but you need to know what SEO is all about as well.
You cannot drive a car if you have fuel, water.. but you don’t know how the car works.
So read the bonus ebook, which you downloaded with OutRankSmart.
Dont WASTE your time with the software if you don’t know what SEO means.
Driving traffic to your website does not mean simple getting backlinks.
You can develop SEO skills. You get better with it, you can pretty much create a website and within a month or two have thousands of targeted visitors buying from you. Then create another one and another one. And let me talk about some MYTHS:
MYTH #1
“SEO is unpredictable, Google does not tell you what they need”
If you don’t know what you are doing – then yes that applies to you. Google always and forever will seek the same thing seo experts give it. That’s backlinks. Obviously Google changes their algorithms but that does not effect you in any way. They might change keyword density from 1% to 4%, or technical stuff that pisses me off.
The core remains always the same. There’s really not much more to say about this.
MYTH #2
“You need to wait 6 to 8 months to see some results, and then again you have to adjust to Google algorithms”
Now that’s really newbiesh. And it’s not true. Someone who is dead bored not only with his website, but with his life too spits something like that… and who tells you that has nothing to proof. I mean come on..
I tell you, you waste time on forums that keep on spraying such statements.
Many, and I mean many internet marketers rely on search engines as their primary and most often only source of traffic. You may need 2 months to start getting hundreds of visitors, not more than that. You don’t need a 1,3,4 or 5 year diplomas to become really good in SEO.
MYTH #3
“Link exchanges are dead”
Oh, come on. Again!
I got my first couple keywords ranked on top in Google, doing only link exhcanges and some article submission. Most people talk not from results, but what they heard from their friends or what the guru told them… who doesn’t know otherwise.
