SEO Black Hat Case Study
This is based from my own real experience years ago. The particular
type of black hat software allowed me to mass create blogs, mass post
comments on other peoples blogs and mass post blog posts and comments
on the blogs it created.
So as you can imagine that means a ton of backlinks. In fact the salespage first big promise was that.
The
results of three or four month work was zero. Mass creating of blogs
worked, but to index all those blogs it was impossible. I tried
pinging, submitting blogs to blog directories, submitting rss
field to rss directories. Guess what, it is useless. Plus most of the
blogs got marked as spam, they were automatically deleted. It means
every comment and blog post I posted on these mass generated blogs was useless.
The
word splog came into existence after everyone realized that blogs where
created for the purpose of getting links. There is an automatic system
that deletes blogs if they are identified as splogs. Splogs are fake
blogs created for backlinks, to improve pagerank and in other words a
black hat technique which does not work anymore.
In fact if blogs are not indexed at least, the backlinks are also useless even if the blogs do not get deleted.
So why the blogs did not get indexed?
In
order for a website or blog to get indexed it must get regularly and
steadily amount of backlinks. Pinging once is not enough, pinging until
you retire is not enough neither and submitting an rss field to rss
directories might even be not enough. Why?
It is just not
enough. So imagine having to index like a thousand blogs or a hundred.
So mass creating blogs is not the right way to get a ton of backlinks.
The other feature of the software is to post comments on other peoples blogs.
Now
this is like spamming their blogs with useless comments. Even if you
create a decent comment for each blog, you are still sort of spamming.
The comment section is there to comment about the blog post if you read
it. If your intentions are different, then you are not commenting.
Search
engines did something to shut down this spamming. Spam filters where
created to stop junk or spam email. Nofollow tags where created to stop
the blog commenting spam.
So all those backlinks from all those
blogs, became useless overnight. Rankings drop and spiders do not like
this thing. It simple means your website is no longer useful to those
blogs since they removed your link. That is how spiders understand that
situation.
Once again you do not need to be a genius to understand that using black hat is very risky.
Luckily
for us, search engines recommend us to us white hat. They allow us to
optimize our website, they like it because we are helping them by
providing their customers with better quality websites. This helps you
and the search engines. I will not mention the name of the software I
used, but there are several similar software that spam blogs. As a
newbie I had to try in order to learn.
So remember to get
feedback before you try and make sure they have a money back guarantee.
The results I got from this software is nothing and it took me three
months testing this thing out. While I got results in less than a month
using simple white hat techniques.
